My experience in both marketing communications and human resources has made me very versatile ... a double-threat if you will. But please don't misunderstand, I'm not just one moonlighting as the other. My career has taken me down two different paths to date as I've held important positions in each profession. While I'm currently working as a freelance HR communications professional (including contracts with Biomet Global HR), I'm currently seeking an opportunity to return to a more "stable" (key word), permanent position with a reputable organization, preferably in HR Talent Acquisition. I enjoy and have proven talent in this role and enjoy doing it, the more challenging the position I'm recruiting for, the better.
To clarify, I originally came from a marketing communications background, holding positions as a Creative Assistant Director and a Marketing Strategy Assistant Director, which I very much enjoyed. However, due to a family relocation in 2004, I was introduced into human resources. Here, I've held positions as a recruiter and a generalist with increasing responsibilities at the manager/director level. In this profession, I've served solely in the orthopedic implant device industry at Zimmer and DePuy/Johnson & Johnson -dba Kelly Services (Staffing Supervisor/Lead Recruiter), Symmetry Medical (HR Generalist and Recruiting Specialist) and have worked as an exclusive contractor for Biomet Human Resources on large scale U.S. and global projects (HRIS Change Management and Training Communications).
I began freelancing in marketing communications on my own time in 2010 when an acquaintance familiar with my background asked if I would produce some organizational marketing material on a contract basis. As it goes, one thing led to another and word of mouth led me to more opportunities. In 2011, I encountered an unforeseen family situation that required full-time parental care of my child, with the recourse of me giving up my position at Symmetry Medical. At this point, I continued freelance contracting as Ryan Tucker Creative Communications, which is my present occupation.
I share this information because at first glance, my resume can be a head-scratcher. However, I'm very goal-oriented and dedicated to every task I encounter. I'm known and have been pursued based on my reputation for quality of work, professionalism, and character. Again, I'm fortunate my career path has afforded me a strong skill set and knowledge in both marketing communications and HR - especially the use of technology concerning each. I'm a "busybody" and a "geek" when it comes to learning and applying computer software programs and technological tools. I enjoy and excel at learning in my free time and have translated this knowledge into solutions in each position I've held.
Finally, I'm honored to have worked with and mentored by some of the most accomplished and respected professionals in both marketing communications and HR. I have learned many things from these leaders and what is required of a consummate professional. I also find myself with the good fortune that these same leaders have agreed to make themselves available to those who may be interested in discussing what I could bring to the table as a potential team member.
Please contact me if you would like to further discuss my background. It would be my pleasure to make your acquaintance and perhaps explore any potential opportunities.
